Better experience, less work

Patient choice is a powerful tool to improve patient experience and nutrition while reducing labor time and waste.

On any device and beyond a Basal Diet

With Coquus, you can bring menu browsing and selection to any device where diners can browse… technically, any device that can display a website: the patient’s or resident’s cell phone, a TV screen, a kiosk in the hallway, a tablet in the room, etc.

A wide variety of devices to provide access to all patients or residents, whether they have a choice or not. Those patients who do not have a menu of choice will be able to consult their menus and advance their observations. But everyone will have access to their menus, dishes, nutritional information, allergen information, photos… and in the language of their choice among those you decide to use.

The key: always automatically customized

But the real key to direct patient access is Coquus’ ability to automatically customize menus. Without it, the menu is customized only after the dietitian’s review, which happens just before the food is consumed…too late to consult or choose.

Coquus substitutes incompatible dishes based on allergies, intolerances, tastes, observations and any other characteristics of the patient. This allows Coquus to display menus for today, tomorrow, the next day, and more. They are always customized. The patient with “No Raw”, “No Soups”, “Doesn’t like Tomato” or “Soy Allergy” will never see incompatible dishes because Coquus has already replaced them!

Direct access improves management more than you might think

We share with you a Coquus experience that you will be familiar with… Often menus are used without choice, but modifications are made when the patient requests them. So, even if the menu is only “coffee with milk”, if the patient cannot take lactose, the milk will be changed, even if he/she prefers a decaf, a chocolate, a tea, a chamomile tea…you will prepare it. However, the patient must inform the nurse, caregiver or nutritionist. In this way, the request is sent to the kitchen, where someone manages the exception… and so, during a long administrative process. This process can be replaced by a menu of choice that includes coffee, decaf, tea… This improves the patient experience and automatically eliminates all administrative management.

You will be surprised at how you can increase patient choice while eliminating hours of nursing and kitchen work!

Improve the experience…
and above all nutrition

Choice significantly improves the diner’s experience. On the one hand, they have more options to find what they like. On the other hand, they are given the autonomy to reject what they don’t like. In all cases, involving diners in their food choices increases their engagement with the meal and, therefore, their nutrition. Finally, we extend the meal moment beyond the service. This is usually one of the best moments of the patient’s or resident’s stay, and now they can enjoy it in advance as they consult, browse, and choose.

Specific benefits for your daily life

Improve patient safety

Dietitians or cooks in communities make hundreds of decisions every day, introducing the risk of human error where technology is infallible. Coquus automates these decisions by putting your organization’s knowledge in your tool, not people, so that all adjustments follow your rules and are always done the same way, without error and regardless of who is in the kitchen today.

Improve the patient experience

There are two key factors in the patient experience. The first is to customize the menu to their preferences, beyond allergens. Coquus automates the customization, multiplying the use of preferences without increasing the workload of the dietitian and the kitchen. The second is to give the patient direct access to his/her menu so that he/she can choose what he/she likes best or avoid what he/she does not eat. The patient becomes more involved in his/her diet and increases his/her satisfaction, which improves the final objective: better nourished patients.

Reduces waste and costs

Accurate management of requirements, production and consumption history, automation of food intake blocks (planned operations, ECOs, TACs…), etc. eliminates the direct waste of thousands of trays and adapts the entire feeding process to reduce costs without compromising quality. In such an information-intensive process, Coquus automation is an immediate efficiency gain.

Eliminates thousands of hours of administrative work

Many of the tasks performed in your kitchen are repetitive. Dietitians read, interpret, choose, act, and reflect these decisions in your systems to maintain patient traceability. Coquus performs all of these tasks automatically, freeing up thousands of hours that you can spend on the many more value-added tasks to fight malnutrition and make your foodservice excellent.

Comprehensive management control

In Coquus, everything is recorded: who requested a change, who accepted or postponed it, at what time, if it involved the manufacture of a new tray, etc. etc.  And all these changes are linked to specific patients, not beds, generating a single, shared report for both the hospital and its kitchen or concessionaire, allowing total management control and total transparency.
